BoRit Proposed Remedial Action Plan Public Comment Period

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently released its Proposed Remedial Action Plan for the BoRit Asbestos Superfund Site which is located in Whitpain and Upper Dublin Townships, as well as in Ambler Borough. The site includes three adjacent parcels of land close to the intersection of West Maple Street and Butler Pike in Ambler – the Park parcel, which is located in Whitpain Township, the Asbestos Pile Parcel, located in Ambler Borough, and the Reservoir parcel, located in Upper Dublin Township. Parts of the Wissahickon Creek, Rose Valley Creek and Tannery Run are also included on the site.

We are currently in the Public Comment Period where locals can submit comments on the proposed Action plan. This period is open until February 1st, 2017.

From the EPA:

The Preferred Alternative for this Site is capping of waste, contaminated soil, and Reservoir sediment with clean material and the implementation of associated operation and maintenance (O&M), and institutional controls. The Estimated Cost of the Preferred Alternative is $27.1 Million.
