Whitpain Township Discussing Tree Planting Along Turnpike

The Shade Tree Commission of Whitpain and Whitpain Township met with the PA Turnpike Commission this week to discuss reforesting parts of the Northeast Extension that runs through Whitpain.

From the Whitpain Wire:

“As part of the widening of the Northeast Extension, numerous trees were removed from the Turnpike right-of-way,” said S. Edgar David, Chairman of the Shade Tree Commission. “Reforesting these areas would improve our overall tree canopy and would soften the appearance of the Turnpike for residents of our Township.”

In order for work to begin, the PA Turnpike Commission has to authorize any agreement allowing the Township to reforest the aforementioned area. We will have more information as it becomes available.
