Ambler Man Charged In Theft

Paul Yung Miller, 36, of the 400 block of Ellerslie Avenue in Ambler has been charged with theft,forgery, receiving stolen property and identity theft during his tenure as waiter at the now closed L’Angelo Blue Restaurant on 602 Skippack Pike.

The owner of the now-closed restaurant at 602 Skippack Pike went to police in June 2015 after he discovered checks with his signature forged made out to Miller’s girlfriend, who never worked for the restaurant, according to the criminal complaint. Miller, a waiter at the restaurant for about three years, had also been keeping the books and doing accounting at the restaurant for about one year, the owner said.

 

Miller allegedly wrote out 70 checks between Jan. 18 and June 8, 2015, to his girlfriend, forging the restaurant owner’s signature, for an amount totaling $31,823.20, the complaint says. The owner also told police Miller gave himself extra pay without his permission totaling $10,084.30 between June 2014 and June 2015, it says.

Miller is currently out free on bail.
