Are Lower Gwynedd’s Board of Supervisors considering taking the “Pike” out of Pike Fest?

The Lower Gwynedd Business Association sent out an email today that asks the public to contact the Lower Gwynedd Board of Supervisors over a perceived plan to move Pike Fest to a new location off Bethlehem Pike.

Pike Fest has been held for the past four years on Bethlehem Pike in Spring House. The event features music, food, bounce houses, and booths promoting local businesses. It is held in September.

Here is the email:

It has come to LGBA’s attention, after all Pike Fest information was “scrubbed” from the township website, that the new leadership of the Lower Gwynedd Board of Supervisors is seriously considering taking Pike Fest off the Pike and moving it to Houston Road, off Dager Road, by the high school. The reason for this move is unknown and may be an attempt to placate a handful of business owners who believe Pike Fest is disruptive to their business, despite the fact that Pike Fest brings 4,000 or so people to the Pike for a day of enjoyment and entertainment. Regardless, a move such as this (or a move from Saturday to Sunday) would undermine the momentum of the event and will guarantee the demise of a widely successful event whose mission is to showcase the businesses along the Pike and elsewhere in LGT: vendor participation and sponsorship will be negatively impacted, businesses along the Pike will be inconvenienced, and residents and other at large participants will be disappointed with the move. Such a move would dismantle all of the hard work put forth by the Pike Fest Committee, its Chair, volunteers and our businesses who have built Pike Fest over the past four years into LGT’s premier community event.

Please come to the Board of Supervisors meeting tomorrow night, Tuesday January 28 at 7 p.m. to be a voice to KEEP PIKE FEST ON THE PIKE. LGBA President and Vice-President will be in attendance, as will the co-chairs and members of Pike Fest 2020 Committee. Many of you are LGT citizens and voters and/or cater on a regular basis to LGT voters. Please hold this new leadership accountable to the voters and their wishes.

If you are unable to attend the meeting please send an email urging LGT to KEEP PIKE FEST ON THE PIKE to contactus@lowergwynedd.org

Let us know what you think in the comments. Should Pike Fest stay at its location on Bethlehem Pike?
