Blue Bell resident gets a second chance at life

Patrick Brett, a resident of Blue Bell, was recently featured in an article by KYW News Radio for his second chance at life after receiving a new heart and liver in 2021.

Born with a congenital heart disease, Brett had three open-heart surgeries by the time he was 9 years old.

“I was told I would never be able to play sports again — at 14 years old — which was absolutely crushing,” he told KYW News Radio.

The article describes his ongoing battles with survival, his family—he met his wife Lauren at North Penn High School—including his three children, and his love of sports.

A member of the Whitpain Recreation Association, Brett hopes to remain in good health and catch as many Phillies games as he can.

The Bretts just participated in the second annual “Dingers for Organ Donation” fundraiser at Wentz Run Park in Blue Bell on Sunday, with proceeds benefitting Gift of Life and Donate Life America.
