Dish of the Week – Alice Bakery and Confectionary

Alice Bakery and Confectionary, nestled into the middle of Ambler’s main drag, is famous throughout Montgomery County for the baking prowess of owner Dennis Darr. Originally in North Wales, Alice Bakery opened in Ambler a little over two years ago after a successful and continuing stint at the Ambler Farmers’ Market. Recent winners of Montco’s Happenings List Best Cupcake and Best Lunch awards for the Alice branch in North Wales, Alice’s Ambler branch also has these same cupcakes and, as we found out deliciously the other day, the same award winning lunch!

The dish of the week for Around Ambler this week is the lunch special currently offered by Alice Bakery and Confectionary in Ambler – Chipotle Gazpacho Soup with a Lime Crème fraîche and a Sandwich for 10.75. Check out the photo above, a shot of the soup paired with a Turkey Focaccia Sandwich – Boars Head pepper crusted turkey, roasted red peppers, and smoked Gouda with Dijon Mustard on house made Focaccia Bread. All breads included on the restaurant menu are made in-house which guarantees peak freshness, whenever you have your meal. If you like spicy and flavorful, the Chipotle Gazpacho is for you.

You can also enjoy the Chipotle Gazpacho soup on its own in a cup for $4 and a bowl for $6. A cup combo with salad and baguette is $8. A bowl combo with salad and baguette is $10.

The moral of the story? Besides delicious baked goods, Alice Bakery is a full-service B.Y.O.B that is open every day except Monday for breakfast, lunch and early supper. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday they remain open until 10 pm in Ambler. You can get a great meal and bring home some of those award-winning cupcakes for dessert.
