  4. Temple alumnus and adjunct instructor Cindy Ahern’s garden started as a modest attempt to attract hummingbirds and has turned into a full-fledged bird sanctuary. Along with the hummingbirds, her “average sized” suburban property has a list of 120 other bird species! Ahern will share her secrets for attracting hummingbirds along with dozens of other tips for creating a bird-friendly urban/suburban habitat! Ahern is an adjunct professor in the Temple University's Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture, part of the Division Architecture and Environmental Design in the Tyler School of Art. Designed for the home and hobby gardeners as well as horticultural professionals, the Ambler Arboretum Horticulture Lecture Series, presented by regional experts, will inspire participants while challenging their way of thinking about horticulture.
