Josephine Leone, 62, former owner of the now-closed Ristorante San Marco in Ambler, was sentenced to more than a year in prison yesterday for stealing nearly $1 million in pandemic relief funds meant to help struggling businesses, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
According to the article, Leone and her husband closed the Italian restaurant on Bethlehem Pike in March 2020 and never reopened.
She applied for and received three separate government-backed loans and grants meant to sustain her business, even as she was finalizing a $1.6 million sale of the building.
