How Lower Gwynedd voted

Going into the 2020 general election, Lower Gwynedd Township had 9,759 registered voters. The election in the township saw 8,356 ballots cast resulting in a turnout of 85.62%. Turnout in 2016 was 79.72% and 78.35% in 2012.

Lower Gwynedd voters came out big for Democratic Party candidates on the November 3rd election. Democratic Party candidates won the majority of votes in every race on the ballot in the township, except for the state representative race between Todd Stephens (R) and Jonathan Kassa (D)

However, there are some interesting things to point out. Joe Biden improved on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 result by 1,002 votes. Donald Trump improved on his vote total from 2016 by 146.

In the second biggest race on the ballot, that to represent the vast majority of Montgomery County in the US House of Representatives, Biden outperformed the Democratic Party candidate, while Trump underperformed against the Republican candidate.

Incumbent Madeleine Dean (D) garnered 83 fewer votes than Biden. First-time candidate Kathy Barnette outperformed Trump by 77 votes.

If you look at all the other races, Biden outperformed his fellow Democrats in each race (even when you combine both state representative races). Trump underperformed the other Republicans on the ballot (including combining the state representative races).
