Improv Ambler Brings Comedy to Town

Improv Ambler  located at 24 Ridge Avenue is a comedy school for kids and teens who are interested in learning the fundamentals and advanced techniques behind comedy, and then taking that experience and developing their own shows and troupes for ongoing performance.

Erika and Bob McNichol are the duo behind Improv Ambler and got their start in the Chicago comedy scene, training and performing at renowned comedy theaters around town like: Second City, Improv Olympic and ComedySportz Chicago. They later helped found and run a comedy theater in Austin, TX called ColdTowne and have taught hundred of students improv and sketch. To see their full bios, visit here.

The classes at Improv Ambler are very much in line with the instructor’s backgrounds in comedy: steeped in improvisational and sketch development techniques they honed while studying and performing in Chicago. All of the instructors love comedy and are looking to provide the types of youth comedy opportunities they had at their theater in Austin, where kids take classes, form troupes and have regular, ongoing shows.

Improv Ambler has classes starting this fall for grades K-8 and will be rolling out shows for younger performers (that they help create!), open jams for older elementary and middle schoolers and regular shows as the student base grows, as well as camps and special events. Eventually, they will offer sketch writing and performance, video sketch and podcasting.
