Local leaf collection schedules and regulations

Local municipalities are kicking off their fall leaf collection programs this month. Find out the details for the Borough of Ambler, Lower Gwynedd Township, Upper Dublin Township, and Whitpain Township.

Borough of Ambler

The borough contracts throughout the year to allow for an unlimited amount of leaves and other yard waste to be picked up. It is prohibited to place leaf waste in with regular trash.

Yard waste materials must be placed in unlined cans or brown paper recycle bags. Hedge materials may be bundled and tied. Grass clippings are not permitted and plastic bags are prohibited. All uncollected materials must be stored on your property until scheduled pickup or dropped off at Barnside Farm Compost Facility.

Lower Gwynedd Township

The fall leaf collection will be provided by Republic Services and will begin on Saturday, October 9th. Leaves must be in biodegradable bags and placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the day of pick-up.

Upper Dublin Township
Leaf collection will begin on October 18th. The township will collect leaves via a vacuum that are raked to the curb. No leaves should be placed on the street. There should be no twigs, branches, or stones left with the leaves.

Whitpain Township

Upcoming leaf collection dates are October 12th and 26th on the south side, and October 13th and 27th on the north side.

Leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags and put out at the curb the evening before the scheduled collection date to ensure they will be picked up. Bags should not weigh more than 40 pounds and should not contain trash or other waste. Bags can be purchased at the Township Building for 5/$2 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Do not place bagged leaf and branch trimmings in plastic bags. The will not be collected.

All leaves and branch trimmings are recycled, not landfilled.
