Lower Gwynedd cancels Pike Fest for 2020

Lower Gwynedd’s Board of Supervisor voted during its June 23rd meeting to cancel Pike Fest for 2020. The event annually takes place in September. The Pike Fest Committee recommended its cancellation.

An unattributed quote in the announcement implied the decision was made in response to the pandemic. The quote is as follows:

“It was a sad and difficult decision to make but we must look at the health and safety of our community.”

Earlier in the year, there was some controversy over an effort to move the event from being held on a Saturday to a Sunday. Some business owners on Bethlehem Pike expressed that the event had a negative impact on their business. Moving the event from its traditional home on Bethlehem Pike was also explored. In the end, the township’s supervisors voted to switch the event to a Sunday.
