The Whitpain Township Police Department today released information on an arrest that resulted from an initial report of a woman being assaulted by a man near her vehicle in the area of the 900 block of Jolly Road in Blue Bell. The incident took place just after 10:00 a.m.

Officers responding to the scene observed a man who fir the description fleeing the scene. Police set up a perimeter around a wooded area where the suspect was believed to be hiding. A perimeter was established and K9 units from the Whitpain and Plymouth police departments were employed along with a drone. The suspect was arrested without further incident.

The victim was taken to Abington Hospital by Plymouth Community Ambulance and was treated for injuries to her face. She is reported to be in stable condition.

The man arrested was to be charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and related charges. We searched for an arrest in Whitpain Township in the state database, however, one involving this arrest has not yet been posted.
