MCCC to host Faculty and Alumni Art Exhibition

Montgomery County Community College will host a gallery exhibition featuring artwork from MCCC’s Art Faculty and Invited Alumni from Jan.

15 to Feb. 21 at the Fine Arts Center Gallery, Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.

The exhibition will feature former and recent faculty and friends of MCCC’s Art department as they display new works and talents. The over 35 artists featured in the exhibit work in a variety of media, from painting and photography to sculpture and animation. The semi-annual exhibition of faculty and invited alumni artwork was last held at the MCCC’s West Campus in Pottstown in January 2018.

The exhibit will also feature work from the Persistent Painters, an informal artists’ group made up of senior citizens who regularly take painting classes at MCCC. The group has been working together and analyzing each other’s work since 2005.

The artists’ reception for the MCCC Art Faculty and Invited Alumni Exhibition will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 5-7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Gallery. The exhibition and the reception are free and open to the community.

Galleries Director Patrick Rodgers views this exhibition as a way to reconnect with past members of MCCC’s art community and to inspire students who currently are enrolled in the program.

“This exhibit is a chance to connect current students with alumni who transferred to other art schools to learn about their experiences, and for current students to think about where they want to go with their work,” said Rodgers. “The show is a great way to see the talent of our arts faculty and to see where many of our alumni have taken the skills and ideas they started building here.”

The Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Closed weekends.
