Montgomery County Commissioner Dr. Val Arkoosh tests positive for COVID-19

Montgomery County announced today that Commissioner Dr. Val Arkoosh has tested positive for COVID-19. Dr. Arkoosh is the second known case among the three commissioners. Commissioner Ken Lawrence tested positive in May of 2020.

Dr. Aroosh shared the following in the statement:

This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19 using an at-home test. Fortunately, my symptoms are extremely mild, which I attribute to receiving the J&J vaccine and a Moderna booster.

We are seeing an increase in cases here in Montgomery County and cases are surging across the Commonwealth and country. Frontline workers and hospital systems are feeling the impact. We need to continue to be vigilant and do everything we can to protect ourselves and others, which means continuing to mask up and getting vaccinated and boosted.

According to the announcement, she is currently following the CDC guidelines and working remotely from home. She is also currently running for Senate.

The latest data from Montgomery County shows that 1,044 people tested positive on December 28-29.
