Montgomery County Expecting Windfall From Democratic Convention

As the area gears up for July’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Montgomery County has calculated a 9.2 million dollar impact for the area as result of the Convention. The Philadelphia area is expected to draw between 35,000 to 50,000 people during the duration of Convention from July 25th to July 28th.

From Philly.com:

Lisa Karl, vice president of sales for the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, said the Democratic organizing committee initially requested 5,000 to 6,000 room nights “as an overflow to the city of Philadelphia. … We contracted twice that amount.”

Fourteen states, the District of Columbia, and three island delegations selected hotels in Lansdale, King of Prussia, Conshohocken and Collegeville.

Currently there are already 11,000 rooms nights reserved for the aforementioned dates.
