New Farmer’s Market Slated for Lower Gwynedd

Last season, the inaugural season of the Farm Stand at Ambler Yards, met with great success. Many Lower Gwynedd and Ambler residents took advantage of the local produce and meats Clay Brick Farms offered at the stand. Because of this success, Ambler Yards has decided to expand the farm stand into a full-fledged farmers’ market, the Lower Gwynedd Farmers’ Market at Ambler Yards. While there will be new faces in 2019, the market’s expansion means even more choices for local area residents who champion locally grown, sustainable agriculture.

One thing patrons will notice this season is the absence of Clay Brick Farms. After many years of successful participation in local area markets, with heavy hearts, Steve and Donna Rineer have decided to retire. Customers will miss Steve and Donna, for sure. However, Ambler Yards plans to carry on the burgeoning tradition of bringing local food to area consumers.

“As we enter into this new phase of life, we’d like to thank all of our customers for their years of friendship and loyalty”, said Steve Rineer. “After working with Ben [Bergman] for many years, we feel confident that he will find a replacement for us that upholds our values of honesty and integrity in the production of their products.”

Ben Bergman, Ambler Yards Campus Manager, has prior experience managing farmers’ markets. His resume includes the Clark Park Farmers’ Market, the Rittenhouse Farmers’ Market and the Ambler Farmers’ Market.

“While we are sad not to have Clay Brick Farms’ in the lineup for this year’s market, we understand that all good things must come to an end. We also understand now it’s up to us to recruit quality vendors who adhere to Clay Brick’s standards,” said Bergman. “With the mix we have in store, we are confident we can!”

The Lower Gwynedd Farmers’ Market at Ambler Yards is expanding to 4 full-time vendors and a 5th revolving guest vendor. Over the coming weeks, you will get a chance to learn about the new vendors, leading up to opening day, Thursday, May 30th, from 3 to 7 pm, in the parking lot of Ambler Yards. There is an orchard, two organic vegetables producers and Ambler Yards’ newest member – ‘feine café’, who will provide hot and iced coffee to patrons as they cruise the rest of the market. A familiar area bakery, Alice Bakery is also participating. There will be a table for children’s crafts, music and more.
