Beginning with the April 1, 2019 billing cycle sewer rates will be adjusted by $3.33 per month for residential customers.

This is the first increase in base residential sewer rates since 2007. Commercial customers will have a corresponding adjustment in their sewer rates.

The 2019 Budget contemplated a higher sewer rate increase of $6.67 per month for base residential sewer rates but, after a thorough analysis of capital expenditures, Supervisors were able to reduce the adjustment by financing certain projects. Even with the adjustment, Whitpain’s sewer rates remain among the lowest of surrounding municipalities.

A variety of issues contribute to the need for a rate change including caring for an aging infrastructure and increases in treatment costs and regulations.
