North Wales Man Wins World Series Of Poker

Montgomery County’s own Joe McKeehan won the $7.68 million dollar first prize AND the title of World Series of Poker Champion last night in Las Vegas. Clad in a Sixers jersey and sweat pants, McKeehan bested his opponents in No-Limit Texas Hold ’em, a variation of standard poker involving two seen cards dealt to each player and 5 community cards seen by the rest of the table. The tournament began in May with over 6,000 entrants. McKeehan’s coach attributes his win to intelligence:

From Philly.Com:

He’s able to hyper-focus on each individual person around the table and know where he stands and where they think he stands,” the coach said.

Contestants came from all over the world to compete; ages ranged from 21 to 94 years old!
