Server from Spring House Tavern Pleads Guilty to Theft

James Albert Herdman, 69, of the 900 block of Horsham Road, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of Theft by Unlawful Taking in incidents that occurred while working at the Spring House Tavern between May and November of 2018.

According to the incident report taken by Detective Fowler of the Lower Gwynedd Police Department: In November of 2018, the owner of Spring House Tavern reported that one of their employees, James “Jimi” Herdman, had been selectively voiding checks when his customers paid with cash and keeping the payments for himself. When interviewed by the police, Herdman explained that for the past few months, “on and off’ he has voided checks and kept the payment for himself.

The return/void reason reports supplied by the Spring House Tavern show (85) incidents totaling $7,459.04. The incidents occurred several times a month and often several times a day.

Herdman was sentenced on Friday to two years probation by Judge Todd D. Eisenberg. Herdman was also ordered to “stay away” from the Spring House Tavern .
