Starbucks proposed for Pennsylvania Avenue in Fort Washington

On the agenda for the May 26th meeting of the Whitemarsh Township Planning Commission is a proposal to construct a 2,600 free-standing Starbucks with a drive-through and outdoor seating. The Starbucks would be adjacent to the Holiday Inn Express at 432 Pennsylvania Avenue in Fort Washington.

In the above photo, Starbucks would be located in the grass area adjacent to the hotel on the right side of the image.

To move forward the applicant, Whitemarsh Hotel Associates, LP, would need to obtain a special exception for a restaurant use, a variance for reduced parking, and a variance to permit development within the Floodplain Conservation Overlay District.

The applicant is also seeking variances involving signage and outdoor seating.

The planning commission will hear the proposal and make a non-binding recommendation to the township’s zoning hearing board. The zoning hearing board will consider the proposal on July 1st.

The May 26th meeting is being held at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. You can find the details on how to attend online here.
