The Ambler Theater has a Spooky Movie Line-Up for Halloween Season

It’s definitely movie weather, and the Ambler Theater has a spooky line up starting tomorrow afternoon with National Theater Live Frankenstein described on Ambler Theater’s website:

Danny Boyle directs a sensational production with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternating roles as Victor Frankenstein and his “creature.” Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his maker. Met with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, vows to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Captured live on March 17 & 24, 2011 at the National Theatre, South Bank, London.

Cast A – Miller as Victor; Cumberbatch as Creature.
Cast B – Cumberbatch as Victor; Miller as Creature.

National Theater Live Frankenstein is showing Sunday, October 28th at 12:30 with cast A, and again on Sunday, Novemebr 11 at 12:30 with cast B.

On Tuesday, October 30th, 200 Years of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley is playing at 7:30pm:

Elle Fanning shines as the young novelist, Mary Shelley, depicting her tempestuous relationship with renowned romantic poet Percy Shelley and her creation of “Frankenstein” – a novel sprung from unbridled imagination and profound grief. Haifaa Al-Mansour, the first Saudi female director (Wadjda), tells Shelley’s story as one of fearless and fiery creativity.

And, on Halloween, the new restoration of the Evil Dead II will show at 9pm.

Sam Raimi followed up his indie horror film The Evil Dead with this genre-expanding spiritual sequel. Our hero Ash, played by cult icon Bruce Campbell, must survive a night of demonic attacks after awakening the Book of the Dead. The film uses creative visual effects and camera tricks to expertly blend horror and comedy. Our Programming Director, Michael Kamison, has called this film “the greatest movie ever made!”
