Humphrey Bogart doing what he does best as the hard-boiled P. I. Phillip Marlowe. After being hired by a wealthy retired general to help his daughter from being blackmailed, Marlowe follows a trail of love, crime, and deceit. The screenplay is adapted from Chandler’s classic novel. Also starring Lauren Bacall and Martha Vickers.
