THIS JUST IN – Nicole Cadwalader Arrested for First-Degree Murder of her 68 Year Old Grandmother, Sharon Burke

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office just released the following:

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Ambler Borough Police Chief William F. Foley Jr. announce the arrest of Nicole Cadwalader, 30, of Ambler, for First-Degree Murder and related charges in the death of her grandmother, Sharon Burke, 68, on June 4, 2018 in the Ambler residence they shared.

At 6:04 a.m., on June 4, the defendant walked into the Ambler Borough Police Department and told officers that she had killed her grandmother. Ambler Police were dispatched to the grandmother’s residence in the 100 block of South Chestnut Street where they found the front door unlocked. Upon entering, officers located a deceased female, identified as Sharon Burke, on the bedroom floor.

Montgomery County Detectives and Ambler Police launched a joint investigation into the death. The investigation revealed that the defendant had stabbed Burke in the neck using a kitchen knife as well as struck her multiple times with a pan and baseball bat. She then left the residence and went to a friend’s house before walking to the Ambler Police station.

An autopsy was performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, which found that the cause of death was multiple stab and incise wounds, with a contributing cause of blunt impact to the head. The manner of death was homicide.

Cadwalader was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Patricia Zaffarano. Bail is not available for First-Degree Murder charges, and the defendant was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m., June 14, 2018, before Judge Zaffarano.
