Two WMS Students Advance to “You Be the Chemist Challenge” State Competition

Two Wissahickon Middle School (WMS) students were among the top four winners invited to advance to the You Be the Chemist Challenge State Competition on April 27th: Ryan O’Farrell (2nd place) and Weaver Goldman (4th place).


In total, WMS sent eleven students to compete in the You Be the Chemist Challenge at Dow Chemical in Collegeville on March 9: Alex Bailey, Weaver Goldman, Vikram Iyer, Kendra Kim, Kevin Lobo, Allison Meng, Ryan O’Farrell, Devon Szczepkowicz (Yosua), David Suh, Brendan Vossen, Andy Wang.


The You Be The Chemist Challenge(r) is an interactive academic contest that encourages students in grades 5-8 to explore chemistry concepts and their real-world applications. The Challenge provides a unique opportunity for a variety of individuals and organizations-including schools, members of the chemical industry, educators, and other community partners-to come together and show their support for STEM education.
