Upcoming lane and road closures in the area

Beginning March 7th there will be a single lane closure on Plymouth Road between Grasshopper Lane and Gypsy Hill Road in Gwynedd Valley. The lane closure is expected to last two to three weeks and is necessary for utility relocations in preparation for the replacement of the bridge in April.

Also starting on March 7th, PECO will begin work on and along Butler Pike between Franklin Street to Stenton Avenue for natural gas main and service line installation. The work will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is expected to last seven months. At least some of the work will involve the roadway.

Starting March 14th, Morris Road will be closed and detoured at the Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) intersection approaching from Cathcart Road. This is part of the work to widen Route 202 from south of Morris Road to Hancock Road in Whitpain and Lower Gwynedd townships. This closure will be in effect 24/7 through early April.

During the Morris Road closure, vehicles will be directed to Route 202, Route 73 (Skippack Pike), and School Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

As we mentioned in the first paragraph, Plymouth Road between Grasshopper Lane and Gypsy Hill Road (to include the intersection with Evans Road) will be closed and detoured starting tentatively on April 4th. The closure is necessary to allow the county to replace the bridge over Wissahickon Creek. The work to replace the bridge is anticipated to take six months.
