Update | Ambler Borough Police Chief Sheds Light on the Honored Individuals Involved in Solving Double Homicide Case.

As we reported last week, at the most recent Ambler Borough Committee meeting, Police Chief William Foley recognized First Assistant District Attorney Ed McCann, Assistant District Attorney Kelly Lloyd, Montgomery County Detective William Mitchell, and Ambler Detective Chad Cassel for their exceptional performance in the double homicide case that occurred on July 31, 2016.

In order to shed a little more light on the honored individuals, we spoke with Chief Foley about their roles in this investigation and how the combined resources of Ambler Borough, the surrounding townships and Montgomery County seamlessly solved this crime. Chief Foley explained:

Ed McCann (First Assistant District Attorney) is the first assistant to the D.A. – his right hand man- he took the time to assist with this case and his background and knowledge paid off tenfold

Kelly Llyod ( Assistant District Attorney) was in charge of the case, bringing everything together and also binging everyone to the same point on the case…while it was happening, Kelly was pregnant, she really went above and beyond most people’s capabilities and did a truly outstanding job.

Detective William Mitchell  had the where-with-all to use modern technology to track the suspect, follow the suspects movements and prove his whereabouts in correlation to the case.

Detective Chad Casell – In police years, he’s a relative ‘newbie’ but all of his training and his senses came to fruition on this case…He was the first in and recognized the full potential of the situation.  He and all of the officers first on the scene did a phenomenal job of preserving the crime scene.

Chief Foley added:

…all of these main investigators, if they got 5 hours sleep, it was a lot.  We feel good about the fact that the Ambler Police and Montgomery County resources come together to make the bad situations much less than they could be.  Ambler Borough, Montgomery County and our surrounding townships weave together…when we have tragic things happen, we pull all of our resources and knowledge base together.  Even though these 4 people were honored and propped up, you can take each one and multiply by ten because a lot of people were involved with this case.  Everyone involved showed extreme dedication to our community, as they do with any other county in Pennsylvania.
