Whitpain Township declares emergency in aftermath of storm

Whitpain Township has declared an emergency after a strong storm knocked out power to over 70% of the township this afternoon. Trees are down in several areas and a building on Union Meeting Road had its roof partially blown off. No one was injured at the building.

With the emergency declaration, the township has opened its Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the response.

To report a power outage, please call PECO at 1-800-841-4141 or report the outage online. Do not assume that a neighbor has already called PECO.

You are asked to not call the police to report power outages and are advised to not go near downed power lines.
