Whitpain Township Police Chief Kenneth Lawson, a 1980 graduate of Upper Dublin High School and a 1982 graduate of Montgomery Community College, shared gratitude on behalf of the career path his MCCC education gave him.
“If I hadn’t gone to Montco, I never would have made it here,” he said. “I knew I wanted to be a police officer. I wanted to help people and make a difference in the community. I felt a police officer was the best way to do that.”
Lawson has been a police officer for more than 40 years, including 10 years as Whitpain’s chief. At MCCC, he majored in police science (now Criminal Justice).
“It changed my life,” he said. “I tell people who want to be police officers, go to the community college. Always get your education and get a college degree. Montco is a great first step.”
