Whitpain Township Receives Grant from PECO Green Region Program

Whitpain Township is one of four townships in Montgomery County to receive grant funding from the PECO Green Region Program. Whitpain’s $10,000 grant is intended to support environmental initiatives in the township including open space preservation, improvements to parks and recreation resources, and environmental conservation. The other townships in Montgomery County slated to receive funds include: Upper Salford Township ($10,000), Upper Pottsgrove Township ($5,000) and Horsham Township ($5,000).

“The municipalities and nonprofits receiving grants are doing their part to positively impact our regional landscape through innovative ‘green’ projects,” said Craig Adams, PECO president and CEO. “We’re proud to support these initiatives, which underscore PECO’s ongoing commitment to the environment and the communities we serve.”

Since 2004, the PECO Green Region Program has granted over 1.5 million dollars to over 200 projects throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. Natural Lands Trust, the region’s largest and most venerated conservation organization, administers the program for PECO.
