Whitpain Township’s Board of Supervisors to consider an ordinance that would lead to a referendum on a tax increase

On the January 18th agenda for the Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors is the consideration of an ordinance that would place a referendum on the May 17th ballot. The referendum would ask voters to vote for or against a 0.06% increase to the Earned Income Tax that would go into effect in 2023.

If approved by the voters, the township would utilize the increase in tax revenue to pay down debt from open space acquisition and for open space maintenance.

According to the notice from the township, the increase would add $40 to the typical person’s Earned Income Tax payment.
