Wissahickon School Board votes to require masks of all students and staff. Staff required to prove vaccination or submit to testing

During its August 23rd meeting, the Wissahickon School Board voted unanimously to require all staff and students, kindergarten through 12th grade) to wear masks when indoors. In a second vote, 5-4, the board voted to require staff members to be vaccinated or submit to COVID-19 testing twice a week.

The vote on the second item broke down as follows:

David Frank – Yes
Amy Ginsburg – No
Ronnie Hayman – Yes

Ron Stoloff – Yes

The district attributed the moves as an effort to have as many students receiving in-person instruction as possible. The board plans to revisit the mask requirement once students under 12 years of age are approved to receive the vaccine or the Montgomery County Department of Health revises its recommendation for these grades and/or grades 7-12.
