Wissahickon School District Board Names Principal of Stony Creek Elementary School

The Wissahickon Board of School Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Paula Sasin as the new Principal of Stony Creek Elementary School.  Ms Sasin comes to Stony Creek after an extensive search that included multiple rounds of interviews and authentic assessment exercises.

Ms. Sasin is currently principal at Coventry Elementary School in Yorktown, Virginia.  She has been Coventry’s principal for the past six years, and has a total of 14 years of experience as a school administrator in the Yorktown district.  Prior to becoming an administrator, she was a K-5 teacher in Yorktown for nine years (in grades 1, 2 and 5).

Ms. Sasin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from West Chester University and a Master of Arts degree in Education and Human Development from George Washington University.  She has completed valuable leadership and teaching and learning professional development experiences at The College of William and Mary and Columbia University, and in 2018, she received the Virginia Board of Education’s “Distinguished Achievement Award” for her school’s academic performance.

Wissahickon’s Superintendent of Schools, Dr. James Crisfield, characterizes Ms. Sasin as an academic leader who has clearly demonstrated a commitment to academic rigor and excellence while understanding what really makes an elementary school tick.  “In Ms. Sasin, we have found a people-first building leader.  She makes a point of establishing positive relationships with students, staff and parents/guardians, which we know isthe essential ingredient needed for a successful and welcoming elementary school.  She embodies these and other leadership and personal qualities that, based on survey results, are critical to the Stony Creek staff and community and that form the basis of an innovative, compassionate and professional building leader.”

She will begin at Stony Creek on January 14, 2019.
