Yost Road in Whitpain to be Reduced to Single Lane during Week of December 9

During the week of December 9, Yost Road will be down to a single lane at the bridge crossing so PECO can replace four utility poles. The work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to minimize the impact on school buses and rush hour traffic.

This work must occur in advance of the Yost Road Bridge replacement, which is tentatively set to being early in 2020 and last for 3-4 months. During this time, there will be a full closure of Yost Road at the bridge crossing.

The Township is coordinating with the Wissahickon School District, St. Helena’s, the US Postal Service, and trash haulers to minimize any disruption this may cause.

The Whitpain Police Department will have an increased presence on surrounding streets during construction as there may be an increase in cut-through traffic.

The Yost Road Bridge replacement is necessary as the current bridge is nearing the end of its useful life and is prone to flooding during large rain events
