A tavern named after Ambler’s namesake Mary Ambler opening in Ambler

Tonight when you are walking around Ambler for First Friday, you may notice a new logo on the space at 47 East Butler that was most recently Melody’s Grillhouse.

The logo simply states “Mary” and the business has an Instagram page that shows a photo of Mary Ambler, the borough’s namesake. There is also a website landing page.

We had heard the grapevine that Chef Chad Rosenthal was behind Mary and he confirmed that to AroundAmbler.com on May 2nd. However, he wasn’t prepared to give out any further details. Rosenthal recently opened Rosey’s Banh Mi in Ambler after closing The Lucky Well, the long running BBQ restaurant and bar in the borough.

The Instagram page describes Mary as “a local tavern,” which means there will need to be a liquor license moved to the address. There is nothing in the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s database showing a transfer underway at this point, nor has a transfer appeared on an agenda for the borough council (this will only be required if the license comes from outside the borough).

More to come when we know more.
