The Wissahickon School has dropped 10 spots in the statewide public school rankings, according to a study conducted by the Pittsburgh Business Times. The district ranked 15th in 2024 and 25th in 2025.
In 2024, Wissahickon was the second-best public school district in Montgomery County, according to the study. The only district ranked ahead of Wissahickon was Lower Merion at third. The second position for Montgomery County is now held by the Colonial School District, which moved up the rankings from 23rd to 22nd. Wissahickon is now third.
This 2025 ranking of school districts across the state is based on examining the most recent three years of available PSSA and Keystone Exams results (2022, 2023, and 2024).
Other nearby districts in Montgomery County have declined in the rankings. Upper Dublin fell from 21st to 28th. North Penn dropped from 71st to 77th. Upper Merion slid from 99th to 163rd place. Springfield moved down five spots from 84th to 89th. Methacton landed at 79th for both years. Abington slightly improved from 123rd to 112th.
The two top districts in the state that edged out Lower Merion are Fox Chapel Area and Upper St. Clair, both in Allegheny County.
