New EV charging stations coming to Blue Bell and North Wales

PennDOT announced on October 27th a $37 million investment to build more publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Montgomery and other counties as part of the Community Charging phase of the federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. This investment will result in 515 new public EV charging ports online in the Philadelphia region. Locally, new chargers will be added at Centre Square Commons in Blue Bell, Royal Farms in North Wales, and an on-street location in North Wales.

In Pennsylvania, the NEVI program has previously funded 54 stations that are currently operational, and another 34 stations are in various stages of planning and construction. The timing of the chargers becoming operational was not announced.

“The Shapiro Administration hit the ground running with EV funding and the results speak for themselves,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. “Under the Governor’s leadership, Delaware Valley residents and travelers will soon have access to more than 500 new EV chargers in their communities.
