Abyss Coffee Under New Ownership + Adds a Fantastic Offer to the Ambler Card

Abyss Coffee in Ambler is under new ownership and has added a fantastic offer to the Ambler Card.

27 year-old Valerie Gusoff became the store manager at Abyss shortly after they opened at 30 South Bethlehem Pike and fell in love with the place. When the original owner decided to sell, Valerie was worried someone would take over and possibly change crucial aspects of the business that make it great. The employees were also worried. She added, “Luckily, I managed to buy it myself and officially became owner on June 1st.  I was lucky to get help and insight about running a business from the landlord, Pete Penna (who owns Fireside), as well as my boss Jim Carter (who owns Ambler Beverage).”

Since taking over, Valerie has been in the process of updating the menu to include more lunch items such as a delicious Angus cheeseburger and Philly Cheesesteak, and, as Valerie told us, “I’ve begun to bake almost everything myself. We do still receive fresh croissants, danish and bagels from Le Bus, but all muffins, cookies and scones are made by me. We use Merrymead Farms dairy products, freshly roasted Chestnut Hill Coffee Co. beans, and local produce. (Some of which are grown in the garden at my other job- The Fayette Street Grille! He has gorgeous tomatoes!).”

Valerie is no stranger to the Ambler area, she attended Wissahickon High School, has degree in Psychology and has 15 years of experience in the food industry ( she started waitressing at 13).

Ambler Card holders can now enjoy 15% off their entire order at Abyss! The Ambler Card  now has over 65 discounts to local businesses to card holders. The card is $25…see all of the available deals and get your card here.
