All Rite Aid locations will close or change ownership in the next few months due to another bankruptcy filing.

On Monday, the company announced that “it is pursuing a strategic and value-maximizing sale process for substantially all of its assets” and is in talks with multiple potential buyers.

“For more than 60 years, Rite Aid has been a proud provider of pharmacy services and products to our loyal customers,” Matt Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer of Rite Aid, said. “While we have continued to face financial challenges, intensified by the rapidly evolving retail and healthcare landscapes in which we operate, we are encouraged by meaningful interest from a number of potential national and regional strategic acquirors. As we move forward, our key priorities are ensuring uninterrupted pharmacy services for our customers and preserving jobs for as many associates as possible.”

Stores will remain open for now, but the company isn’t buying new inventory so bare shelves are likely to become more common. Customers are still able to fill prescriptions, get immunizations and shop in the stores or online.

The Philadelphia-based company runs 1,245 stores in 15 states, according to its website. The Dreshertown Plaza location closed in December 2023. Another location still exists at 1201 S Bethlehem Pike in Ambler.
