Ambler Borough Council Votes 5-4 to Hire New Police Chief from Within

At the Ambler Borough Committee Meeting on June 5, Council President, Frank DeRuosi asked for a motion to, ” …keep the search for a new chief limited to current members of the Ambler Police Force only…”

Council voted 5-4 in favor of hiring from within, and also voted in favor of hiring a third party to provide assistance in the hiring process and conduct the interviews of prospective candidates, at a cost not to exceed $7,500.

As Chief William Foley mentioned at the last Council meeting, his senior police staff, and likely candidates are: Sgt. Robert Hoffman, who is serving as the interim chief and has 23 years of experience within the department, and Sgt. Jeffrey Borkowski who has served 22 years on the force.
