Ambler Borough Earthfest Set for April 13

Celebrate our Mother Earth on Saturday April 13th from 10am-2pm for Ambler Earthfest at Ambler Borough Hall.

Ambler Environmental Advisory Council Earth Fest 2018

The Ambler EAC has designed a fun, family and adults-oriented day to play and participate in growing our communities greener. Take home a free seedling, talk to an arborist about the spotted lantern fly, or learn from an expert how to start composting.  Borough residents are eligible to receive a free rain barrel and yard assessment.

Old electronics can be recycled at Calvary Church. Anything with a plug, battery, or charger will be collected by Always Be Recycling.

After the Kiwanis Easter Egg hunt at Borough Park, come to Borough Hall for more children’s fun with Tinkergarten, Miss Michelle‘s singing and story-telling, and projects for creating art with recycled materials.

Kids can see a demo green roof in action when it rains as well as other systems in architecture that mimic natural processes with Upper Dublin High School seniors who are designing a real “Living Building”, currently in progress at Robbins Park.

At 10:00am, Borough property-owners can hear and compare benefits and subsidies for a professionally installed rain garden, or a downspout planter box, or replacing a concrete patio with permeable pavers. These storm water management tools are made available at significantly subsidized costs to residents due to a Growing Greener Grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to support Clean Streams, Clean Water.

Stay in town after visiting Borough Hall.  Some stores will offer discounts on locally made, eco-friendly items and many shops will give a dollar off your purchase if you bring your own bag. Several restaurants are offering eco-friendly discounted lunch specials as well – notably Alice Bakery , Buutchiis Grill and Lucky Well. Alice Bakery will serve vegetarian Bello sandwich and grilled cheese sandwiches for $9.
