Ambler man arrested for assault, used lawnmower blade as weapon

Evergicio Gonzalez, 34, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and possessing an instrument of crime for an incident involving a lawnmower blade on Monday, September 18 in the area of the 200 Block of N. Spring Garden St. in Ambler.

According to the Ambler Police Department, a woman called 9-1-1 around 9:00pm and told dispatchers Gonzalez was armed with a machete and threatening to kill her husband. The blade was determined to be from a lawnmower. The report alleged that Gonzalez chased the victim with the blade before throwing it and nearly hitting a child. 

Gonzalez was standing in the street holding a broken glass bottle behind his back when police arrived, the department said. He will appear for a preliminary hearing on Friday, September 29.
