Ambler’s Forest & Main Brewing adding location in Fishtown section of Philadelphia

On May 5th, Ambler-based Forest & Main Brewing Company announced that it was opening a location in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. At the time, the brewery was looking for a partner to handle the food portion of the business.

On June 25th, The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Michael Klein reported on the brewery’s expansion and the address, 1416 Frankford Avenue, which was most recently occupied by Cheu Fishtown, a restaurant that closed in 2024.

In Klein’s article, he reports that the brewery has found a food partner in Chef Dane DeMarco, the owner of Gass & Main in Haddonfield, New Jersey. DeMarco plans for a concession-stand type menu with sloppy joes, French fries, funnel cakes, nachos, and hotdogs.

In the leasing brochure for the building, the 2,056-square-foot restaurant space is described as having “unique architecture with impactful street presence” that is close to notable restaurants. The restaurant also offers two outdoor seating options, including a patio area (pictured above right) and sidewalk seating. Pictured to the left is the indoor bar area. Please note that these images are from the leasing brochure, prior to Forest & Main occupying the space.

Forest & Main opened in Ambler in 2012 at 61 North Main Street. It then added a production facility and taproom at the Main Street Annex, located at 241 North Main Street, and relocated from 61 North Main Street to 33 East Butler Pike.

The Fishtown location is projected to open in September 2025.
