Ambler’s planning commission holding open house to kick-off comprehensive plan update

Ambler’s planning commission is hosting an open house on Tuesday, January 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. about the borough’s upcoming update to its comprehensive plan.

According to the notice, this event will introduce the public to the planning process for the comprehensive plan and seek input on the current state of Ambler as well the participants’ vision for Ambler in the next five, 10, and 20 years.

What is a comprehensive plan? From the American Planning Association’s Pennsylvania Chapter:

The comprehensive plan is one of the most important tools municipalities and counties can use for land use planning and local governance. Theplan serves as an official public document that guides public and private decisions about physical development in the community. It is an explicit statement of future goals for the community, and serves as a formal vision for the planning commission and other public agencies, elected officials, private organizations, and individuals. The comprehensive plan also is a measuring tool for evaluating specific development proposals and their impact on the general public welfare.

The open house will be held in the gynasium of Ambler Borough Hall.
