Ambler’s police department warns public on catalytic converter theft

The Ambler Borough Police Department released a notice today on the issue of catalytic converter theft from vehicles within the borough. There have been several recent thefts and a preferred target in the Toyota Prius.

Below is the statement:

The Ambler Borough Police Department wants the public to be aware of the rise in catalytic converter thefts. This is especially important if you own a Toyota Prius. The Prius is the vehicle that these thieves target the most. We have had several recent converter thefts and they all involved a Toyota Prius. The thefts are occurring at night time while the residents are asleep. The thieves will use a jack to lift the car up and then go under the vehicle to cut off the converter. If you hear or see anything suspicious please call 911 and report it.
