Around Ambler Spotlight | Paul Kenny and Kenny’s Christmas Trees

Paul Kenny is a familiar face in the community. Not only is he Lower Gwynedd’s beloved Police Chief, his family-run Christmas Tree business has him working double time every holiday season.

Paul Kenny started his career in 1985 with the Lower Gwynedd Township Police Department as a patrol officer. He worked as detective in juvenile and adult areas  beginning in 2002, and enjoyed working at the Wissahickon Middle School as a D.A.R.E officer.  He was promoted to lieutenant in 2009, and during his career he graduated from Gwynedd Mercy University with a degree in criminal justice. Paul has been Lower Gwynedd’s Police Chief for the last four years.  He loves the community where he works, and enjoys seeing many visit the Christmas tree lot in December and especially appreciates those who participate in Trees For Troops each year.

Kenny’s Christmas Trees is proudly celebrating its 29th year.  Located at 1121 Bethlehem Pike(next to the Giant food store), Kenny’s is a family owned and operated business.  Paul’s wife, Joanne decorates the wreaths, does most of the administrative work, and helps Paul at the tree lot when she’s not working.  Their son, Tyler(26) works there hauling and selling trees, daughter, Shelby(22) helps out behind the scenes and works at the front end with wreaths, roping and collecting money and the Kenny’s youngest daughter, Jillian (20) helps at the lot when she is home from college.  As Joanne says, ” It truly is a family business!”

Kenny’s  Christmas Trees carries: Douglas firs, Frasier firs, and Concolor firs ranging in size from 3 feet to 12 feet. On any given day there are 400-500 trees on display and for sale. They also sell pine roping in 10 yards and 25 yards and have decorated and undecorated wreaths in many sizes.  Kenny’s also offers delivery and set up and always gives each tree a fresh cut.  The tree is then wrapped up the tied to your car.  No detail is left undone, there are plenty of tree stands for all sizes,  and their specialized drill guarantees that the trees stand straight every time.

Kenny’s officially opens Black Friday through December 24 from 9a-9p Monday – Thursday, 9a-10pm FridaySunday.

Paul Kenny and his family is honored to be a part of  Trees for Troops again this year.  Customers can purchase a tree for a military family for $20, and Kenny’s contributes $5 for every tree sold.  Trees for Troops starts now until December 4.
