Former New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez hit a half-court shot during halftime of a college basketball game at Bucknell University to win $10,000 for Ambler native and Bucknell student Owen Garwood. Rodriguez was at the game due to a speaking engagement at the university involving Jump Partners, a ticketing and fan experience mobile app he founded with two Bucknell alumni. Garwood was randomly selected to participate in the half-time promotion.
Watch the video below. Note that the three partners first had a three-point contest. Once Rodriguez hits the half-court shot, Garwood can be seen running across the court and celebrating with Rodriguez (photo at top).
What a day for Bison Nation! Bucknell takes down Army, and A-Rod delivers an unforgettable moment—hitting a half-court shot to win a Bucknell student $10,000! Huge thanks to Alex Rodriguez, Marc Lore ’93, and Jordy Leiser ’06 for making it such a special day! #rayBucknell pic.twitter.com/WVmORSKReC
