Community center construction in Whitpain Township makes progress

Whitpain Township announced Thursday that construction of the new community center at Centre Square Park is making significant progress. The township also released a status update from Boyle Construction Management, whom the township hired to oversee construction. According to Boyle, crews have been preparing the site earth work and installing stormwater infrastructure and parking lot construction. Underground electrical work has also been done.

Construction is expected to continue through the summer. During the rest of July, work will focus on installing remaining concrete placements, final grading and preparation for subsequent building phases. Later in the summer, crews will install utility connections and conduct infrastructure work across DeKalb Pike. Work on DeKalb Pike will cause traffic disruptions, said Whitpain Township, but is expected to end before schools are back in session.

Planning began after Whitpain received a $10 million donation from an anonymous donor. The donor requested that the funds be used specifically for a community center, said the township. The community center is located on the site of the former dog park in Centre Square Park. The dog park has since relocated to 1610 Arch Street Rd.

Boyle Construction Management projected full completion of the center to occur in April 2027. For more updates, visit Whitpain’s web page on the project here: Community Center Project | Whitpain Township, PA.
