Fly Eagles Fly | Fight Song History | Share Your Videos

According to Eagles History, the original Eagles fight song was called, “The Eagles Victory Song”, and was performed by a 200 member marching band called The Sound Of Brass.  The original song was written by Charles Borrelli & Roger Courtland . In an effort to bring it back, the original Eagles Fight Song was changed in the 1990’s…the tempo was increased and the lyrics were shortened… to become the iconic chant that it is today ( See lyrics below).  The Philadelphia Eagles Pep Band, who used to play at tailgates as well as in the 700 level of Veterans Stadium, started a:  ” Learn Your Fight Song” initiative in 1997 and 1998, and invited fans to sing along and learn the new fight song that is now widely known as,” Fly Eagles Fly”.  The Eagles Pep Band and “Fly Eagles Fly” both increased in popularity and the chant quickly stuck.

Now, the Pep Band which still consists of it’s original four members,  Bobby Mansure Frontman-Tenor Sax, Brian Saunders -Lead Saxophone, Anthony “Skull” DiMeo -Guitar/Banjo, Bruce Mulford -Upright Bass, rallies over 70,000 fans at every home game to sing “Fly Eagles Fly”, where it is sung with passion before kickoff and after each touchdown.

Several schools and organizations held pep rallies today and people all across our area will be seen and heard singing our beloved Eagles fight song, “Fly Eagles Fly” throughout the weekend.  We would love to see what you’ve got, so share your version of Fly Eagles Fly below!

Fly Eagles Fly lyrics:

“Fly, Eagles, fly
On the road to victory
Fight, Eagles, fight
Score a touchdown 1, 2, 3
Hit ’em low
Hit ’em high
And watch our Eagles fly
On the road to victory!
E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!”
