The Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services Offices of Drug & Alcohol and Public Health are sponsoring free quarterly Naloxone distribution events, and one is being held at St. Anthony of Padua Parish on Tuesday, September 17th. Although this event is free, registration is required.
Naloxone is a life-saving opioid overdose reversal drug. Also known as Narcan, it is an “opioid antagonist” medication used to counter the effects of opioid overdose, for example morphine and heroin overdose. Specifically, Naloxone is used in opioid overdoses to counteract life-threatening depression of the central nervous system and respiratory system, allowing an overdose victim to breathe normally
